The Hyogo Prefecture Preliminary Round of the 21st National High School English Debate Tournament, hosted by the All Japan High School English Debate Association (HEnDA), was held at Amagasaki Oda Senior High School on November 13, 2026.

Twelve teams from 11 high schools across Hyogo Prefecture took part in the tournament. The debate topic was whether the Japanese government should eliminate all tariffs on imported rice.

The Akashi Nishi debate team got off to a good start, winning its first two debates against Kakogawa Nishi Senior High School and Hyogo Prefectural International High School.

However, the team subsequently lost three debates against Kobe Municipal Fukiai High School, Kobe High School, and the shadow team from Kobe University Secondary School (KUSS). As a result, the Akashi Nishi team finished eighth out of the 12 participating teams. Ms. UEDA Yuki was chosen as a Nominated Debater recognized by teachers.

The team made great progress over the course of the five debates. We hope that the members will build on this experience and perform even better at the 20th Hyogo Prefecture Senior High School English Debate Contest, scheduled to be held on January 31, 2027.

第21回全国高校生英語ディベート大会 (HEnDA) 兵庫県予選

全日本高校生英語ディベート連盟（HEnDA）主催の第21回全国高校生英語ディベート大会兵庫県予選が、2026年11月13日、尼崎小田高等学校で開催されました。

兵庫県内の11校から12チームが参加しました。論題は「日本政府は輸入米に対するすべての関税を撤廃すべきである。是か非か」でした。

明石西高校のディベートチームは、加古川西高等学校と兵庫県立国際高等学校に勝利し、好スタートを切りました。しかし、その後、神戸市立葺合高等学校、神戸高等学校、神戸大学附属中等教育学校（KUSS）のシャドウチームに敗れ、結果として12チーム中8位となりました。上田有紀さんが先生により選ばれるノミネーテッドディベータ―賞を受けました。

5試合を通して、チームは大きく成長しました。この経験を生かし、2027年1月31日に開催予定の第20回兵庫県高等学校英語ディベートコンテストでは、さらによいパフォーマンスを発揮してくれることを期待しています。

国際人間科3年生の選択授業「情報＆コミュニケーションⅡ」では、情報機器を使ったコミュニケーション活動を行っています。

本日の授業は、1年生国際人間科にフィンランドから留学中の、イラリさんをお招きしました。

お互いにフィンランド語や関西弁を教えあったり、自国の文化について紹介しあったりしました。

下の写真でイラリさんが持っているのは、みんなで考えたイラリさんの名前の漢字、「依羅莉」です！

The 51st Sports Day was held at Akashi Nishi Senior High School on October 1, 2026. A total of 880 students from 23 classes across the first, second, and third grades participated in the event.

The third-year students took part in a cheering competition. The third-year DGA students in Class 3-7 performed a dance expressing the theme of peace in a multicultural world, using a large, round colorful piece of light cloth called Paraballoon. Their performance won second place.

They also created a beautiful flag, which won third place in the flag competition.

In the afternoon, Class 3-7 took first place in the girls’ obstacle relay, while Class 2-8 took third place in the boys’ obstacle relay.

At the closing ceremony, the overall results of the competitions were announced, and Class 3-7 finished in second place overall.

2026年10月1日、明石西高等学校において第51回体育大会が開催されました。1年生から3年生までの23クラス、合計880名の生徒が参加しました。

3年生は応援合戦に参加しました。3年7組の国際人間科（DGA）の生徒たちは、色とりどりのパラバルーン（大きな円形の軽い布）を使い、多文化共生社会における平和を表現したダンスを披露し、準優勝しました。また、美しい旗も制作し、旗のコンテストで第3位に入賞しました。

午後には、3年7組が女子障害物リレーで優勝し、2年8組が男子障害物リレーで第3位に入賞しました。

閉会式では、各競技の総合成績が発表され、3年7組が総合準優勝を果たしました。

The 22nd Junior High School English Recitation Contest, hosted by Akashi Nishi Senior High School, was held on September 25, 2026. Twenty-five students participated in the Standard Section, and three students participated in the Experienced Section.

First, 23 students in the Standard Section (two students were absent) recited a passage from a speech by Malala Yousafzai at the United Nations. Next, the three students in the Experienced Section gave their recitations.

Three Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) from Akashi Nishi Senior High School served as judges. The chief judge announced the results, and prizes were awarded to the winners in each section. The results were as follows:

明石西高等学校主催の「第22回中学生英語暗唱コンテスト」が、2026年9月25日に開催されました。一般部門には25名、特別部門には3名の中学生が参加しました。

まず、一般部門では、23名の生徒（2名欠席）が、国連で行われたマララ・ユスフザイ氏のスピーチの一節を暗唱しました。続いて、特別部門の3名の生徒が暗唱を披露しました。

審査員は、明石西高等学校の3名のALT（外国語指導助手）が務めました。審査委員長から結果が発表され、各部門の入賞者に賞が授与されました。結果は以下のとおりです。

On September 19 (Saturday), 2026, a school information session was held. Two sessions were held, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. A total of 154 people, including 71 students and 83 parents, participated in the session introducing the Department of Global Awareness (DGA), which was held on the first floor of the school alumni hall (Kisho Kaikan).

First, the three courses—the Regular Course, the Educational Regular Course, and the Department of Global Awareness (DGA)—were introduced in a video. The DGA was then explained in more detail by Mr. Mitsutake, the head of the DGA.

Next, the participants listened to part of a listening comprehension test from a previous entrance examination. This was followed by a speech given by Ms. Jinno, the first-year winner of the English Summer Seminar Speech Contest.

Next, a group of first-year DGA students answered questions from Mr. Mitsutake by holding up True or False signs and sharing their opinions.

Finally, the Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) led English activities for the junior high school students. The students were divided into groups and had fun playing English card games.

2026年9月19日（土）、学校説明会が開催されました。午前と午後の2回に分けて実施され、学校同窓会館（輝翔会館）1階で行われた国際人間科（DGA）の説明会には、71名の生徒と83名の保護者、計154名が参加しました。

はじめに、普通科、教育類型、国際人間科（DGA）の3つのコースについて、動画を使って紹介しました。その後、光武DGA科長から、国際人間科（DGA）についてさらに詳しい説明がありました。

次に、過去のリスニングテストの一部を参加者に実際に聞いてもらい、その後、英語サマーセミナーの1年生スピーチコンテストで優勝した神野さんがスピーチを披露しました。

続いて、1年生のDGA生徒のグループが、光武DGA科長から出された質問に対して、○×の札を示しながら答え、それぞれの意見を発表しました。

最後に、ALT（外国語指導助手）が中学生を対象に英語活動を行いました。参加した中学生はグループに分かれ、英語のカードゲームを楽しみながら、英語に親しみました。
