The 51st Sports Day was held at Akashi Nishi Senior High School on October 1, 2026. A total of 880 students from 23 classes across the first, second, and third grades participated in the event.

The third-year students took part in a cheering competition. The third-year DGA students in Class 3-7 performed a dance expressing the theme of peace in a multicultural world, using a large, round colorful piece of light cloth called Paraballoon. Their performance won second place.

They also created a beautiful flag, which won third place in the flag competition.

In the afternoon, Class 3-7 took first place in the girls’ obstacle relay, while Class 2-8 took third place in the boys’ obstacle relay.

At the closing ceremony, the overall results of the competitions were announced, and Class 3-7 finished in second place overall.

2026年10月1日、明石西高等学校において第51回体育大会が開催されました。1年生から3年生までの23クラス、合計880名の生徒が参加しました。

3年生は応援合戦に参加しました。3年7組の国際人間科（DGA）の生徒たちは、色とりどりのパラバルーン（大きな円形の軽い布）を使い、多文化共生社会における平和を表現したダンスを披露し、準優勝しました。また、美しい旗も制作し、旗のコンテストで第3位に入賞しました。

午後には、3年7組が女子障害物リレーで優勝し、2年8組が男子障害物リレーで第3位に入賞しました。

閉会式では、各競技の総合成績が発表され、3年7組が総合準優勝を果たしました。

The 22nd Junior High School English Recitation Contest, hosted by Akashi Nishi Senior High School, was held on September 25, 2026. Twenty-five students participated in the Standard Section, and three students participated in the Experienced Section.

First, 23 students in the Standard Section (two students were absent) recited a passage from a speech by Malala Yousafzai at the United Nations. Next, the three students in the Experienced Section gave their recitations.

Three Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) from Akashi Nishi Senior High School served as judges. The chief judge announced the results, and prizes were awarded to the winners in each section. The results were as follows:

明石西高等学校主催の「第22回中学生英語暗唱コンテスト」が、2026年9月25日に開催されました。一般部門には25名、特別部門には3名の中学生が参加しました。

まず、一般部門では、23名の生徒（2名欠席）が、国連で行われたマララ・ユスフザイ氏のスピーチの一節を暗唱しました。続いて、特別部門の3名の生徒が暗唱を披露しました。

審査員は、明石西高等学校の3名のALT（外国語指導助手）が務めました。審査委員長から結果が発表され、各部門の入賞者に賞が授与されました。結果は以下のとおりです。

On September 19 (Saturday), 2026, a school information session was held. Two sessions were held, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. A total of 154 people, including 71 students and 83 parents, participated in the session introducing the Department of Global Awareness (DGA), which was held on the first floor of the school alumni hall (Kisho Kaikan).

First, the three courses—the Regular Course, the Educational Regular Course, and the Department of Global Awareness (DGA)—were introduced in a video. The DGA was then explained in more detail by Mr. Mitsutake, the head of the DGA.

Next, the participants listened to part of a listening comprehension test from a previous entrance examination. This was followed by a speech given by Ms. Jinno, the first-year winner of the English Summer Seminar Speech Contest.

Next, a group of first-year DGA students answered questions from Mr. Mitsutake by holding up True or False signs and sharing their opinions.

Finally, the Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) led English activities for the junior high school students. The students were divided into groups and had fun playing English card games.

2026年9月19日（土）、学校説明会が開催されました。午前と午後の2回に分けて実施され、学校同窓会館（輝翔会館）1階で行われた国際人間科（DGA）の説明会には、71名の生徒と83名の保護者、計154名が参加しました。

はじめに、普通科、教育類型、国際人間科（DGA）の3つのコースについて、動画を使って紹介しました。その後、光武DGA科長から、国際人間科（DGA）についてさらに詳しい説明がありました。

次に、過去のリスニングテストの一部を参加者に実際に聞いてもらい、その後、英語サマーセミナーの1年生スピーチコンテストで優勝した神野さんがスピーチを披露しました。

続いて、1年生のDGA生徒のグループが、光武DGA科長から出された質問に対して、○×の札を示しながら答え、それぞれの意見を発表しました。

最後に、ALT（外国語指導助手）が中学生を対象に英語活動を行いました。参加した中学生はグループに分かれ、英語のカードゲームを楽しみながら、英語に親しみました。

8月5日～7日の3日間、国際人間科1年生がイングリッシュ・キャンプを行いました。

アスピア明石の会議室を数部屋お借りし、4人のALTと英語の活動やゲーム、クイズを楽しみました。

また、スピーチコンテストも行い、「自分を強くしてくれた体験」について英語でプレゼンを行いました。

この3日間で、英語力だけでなくクラスの絆も強くなったことと思います。

Day 13 — August 11

Akashi Nishi Senior High School (ANSHS) students arrived in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, in the morning.

They went on a sightseeing bus tour around the capital city. First, they visited the Petronas Twin Towers. Then, they enjoyed delicious Indian dishes at an Indian restaurant. Next, they visited the National Palace and Batu Caves. Some students climbed the many stairs at Batu Caves.

After that, they visited the National Monument, the National Mosque, Independence Square, and Central Market. Finally, they headed to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Day 14 -- August 14
The Malaysia–Australia Language Study Tour group is to take flight MH052, departing Kuala Lumpur at 22:25. They are expected to arrive in Japan at 5:55 a.m. on August 12 and return to ANSHS by bus.

明石西高等学校（ANSHS）の生徒たちは、午前中にマレーシアの首都クアラルンプールに到着しました。

その後、観光バスに乗って首都クアラルンプールの市内観光を行いました。最初にペトロナス・ツインタワーを訪れ、続いてインド料理店でおいしいインド料理を楽しみました。次に、国王宮殿とバトゥ洞窟を訪れました。バトゥ洞窟では、たくさんの階段を上った生徒もいました。

その後、国立記念碑、国立モスク、ムルデカ広場、セントラル・マーケットを訪れ、最後にクアラルンプール国際空港へ向かいました。

マレーシア・オーストラリア語学研修団は、22時25分発のMH052便でクアラルンプールを出発します。8月12日午前5時55分に日本に到着し、その後、バスで明石西高校へ戻る予定です。

Day 12 — August 10
Akashi Nishi Senior High School (ANSHS) students spent their last Sunday, Day 11 (August 9), with their host families.
On Monday, August 10, the ANSHS students visited Churchlands Senior High School (CSHS) for their final day at the school. In the morning, they went shopping at Innaloo Shopping Centre.

During Period 3, they participated in a Japanese lesson. Group 2 gave a presentation about “Life at ANSHS.” They also had the opportunity to communicate with CSHS students.

During Period 4, they joined a PE lesson taught by Mr Andy Chapman. They played volleyball together with CSHS students.

During Period 5, they joined Japanese lessons with Mr Reef Jennings and Ms Lee Ellis. They enjoyed communicating with each other in both English and Japanese.

After returning to their host families' homes, the students came back to CSHS with their host families at 6:00 p.m. for a farewell party.

At the party, Mr Takanori Sakagami, a representative student, gave a farewell speech to express his gratitude to their host families. Ms Miwa Hinokio, a mathematics teacher, also gave a speech expressing her sincere gratitude to everyone in the Churchlands community.

At 8:30 p.m., the students said goodbye to their host families and left by bus for the airport. They then took a midnight flight to Kuala Lumpur.

明石西高等学校（ANSHS）の生徒たちは、11日目の8月9日（日）、ホストファミリーと一緒に最後の日曜日を過ごしました。
8月10日（月）、ANSHSの生徒たちは、Churchlands Senior High School（CSHS）での最後の登校日を迎えました。午前中は、Innaloo Shopping Centreへ買い物に出かけました。

3時間目には、日本語の授業に参加しました。グループ2は、「ANSHSでの学校生活」についてプレゼンテーションを行いました。また、CSHSの生徒たちと交流する機会もありました。

4時間目には、Andy Chapman先生が担当する体育の授業に参加しました。CSHSの生徒たちと一緒にバレーボールを楽しみました。

5時間目には、Reef Jennings先生とLee Ellis先生の日本語の授業に参加しました。生徒たちは、英語と日本語の両方を使って楽しく交流しました。

授業終了後、生徒たちは一度ホストファミリーの家に戻り、午後6時にホストファミリーと一緒に再び学校へ戻り、フェアウェルパーティーに参加しました。

パーティーでは、代表生徒の阪上貴則さんが、ホストファミリーへの感謝の気持ちを伝えるため、別れのスピーチを行いました。また、数学科の檜尾美和先生からも、Churchlandsの学校関係者や地域の皆様への心からの感謝を伝えるスピーチがありました。

午後8時30分、生徒たちはホストファミリーに別れを告げ、バスで空港へ向かいました。その後、深夜便でクアラルンプールへ向けて出発しました。

Day 10 — August 8
The students woke up in the morning and had breakfast at 7:15 a.m.

Activity 1 took place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., Activity 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Activity 3 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Groups 1, 2 and 3 participated in two different activities: Rock Climbing and Vertical Challenges.

The students returned to Churchlands at 4:00 p.m., where they were picked up by their host families.

生徒たちは朝起床し、7時15分に朝食をとりました。
アクティビティ1は午前9時から10時30分まで、アクティビティ2は午前11時から午後12時30分まで、アクティビティ3は午後1時30分から3時まで行われました。

グループ1、2、3は、「ロッククライミング」と「バーティカルチャレンジ」の2種類のアクティビティに参加しました。

生徒たちは午後4時にチャーチランズへ戻り、ホストファミリーのお迎えで帰宅しました。

Day 9 — August 7

The Akashi Nishi Senior High School (ANSHS) students and their host students from Churchlands Senior High School (CSHS) went on a trip to Fremantle and Woodman Point Recreation Camp.

In the morning, they travelled by bus to Fremantle and visited Fremantle Prison, where they took part in a guided prison tour.

In the afternoon, they had some free time to explore the town, have lunch, and do some shopping.

They then travelled by bus to Woodman Point Recreation Camp, arriving at 2:30 p.m. After being allocated their dormitories, they unpacked their luggage and played sports outdoors.

Next, they listened to Ms Ellis explain the camp schedule and activities.

After some free time, they went on a sunset beach walk. They walked to the beach and watched the sun set over the ocean. It was a very impressive sight.

The students then had dinner, after which Group 1 cleaned the dining room. In the evening, everyone enjoyed card games and a quiz night.

After showering, the lights were turned out, and everyone went to sleep.

9日目 — 8月7日

明石西高等学校（ANSHS）の生徒たちは、ホスト校であるチャーチランズ・シニア・ハイスクール（CSHS）の生徒たちと一緒に、フリーマントルとウッドマン・ポイント・レクリエーション・キャンプへ行きました。

午前中は、バスでフリーマントルへ行き、フリーマントル刑務所を見学しました。ガイド付きの刑務所ツアーに参加し、歴史ある施設について学びました。

午後は自由時間があり、町を散策したり、昼食を食べたり、買い物を楽しんだりしました。

その後、バスでウッドマン・ポイント・レクリエーション・キャンプへ向かい、午後2時30分に到着しました。到着後は宿泊する部屋の割り当てがあり、荷物を整理した後、外でスポーツを楽しみました。

続いて、エリス先生からキャンプ中のスケジュールや活動について説明を受けました。

その後、自由時間を過ごした後、夕日のビーチウォークに出かけました。海岸まで歩き、美しい夕日を眺めました。とても印象的な景色でした。

その後、夕食を食べ、グループ1が食堂の片付けを担当しました。夜はカードゲームやクイズ大会を楽しみました。

シャワーを済ませた後は消灯となり、みんな就寝しました。

Day 8 – August 6
On August 6, during Period 1 (P1), the students from Akashi Nishi Senior High School (ANSHS) shadowed their host students. Three ANSHS students joined a Mathematics class.

During Period 2 (P2), the ANSHS students attended an Australian Geography class with Ms Larissa Cool. She introduced a map of Australia and some of the country's famous landmarks. The ANSHS students then matched the famous places to their locations on the map.

During Period 3 (P3), half of the ANSHS students joined Ms Lee Ellis's Japanese class. Group 6 gave a presentation on social issues in Japan, including Toyoko Kids and gender equality. Afterwards, the ANSHS and Churchlands Senior High School (CHS) students introduced themselves in English or Japanese and asked each other questions.

During Period 4 (P4), the ANSHS students joined a Year 11 Japanese class with Ms Lee Ellis. First, the ANSHS and CHS students were divided into groups and competed in an Australia–Japan Friendship Quiz. They then paired up to introduce themselves and ask each other questions, with the ANSHS students speaking in English and the CHS students responding in Japanese.

After the lesson, the ANSHS students continued shadowing their host students before heading home together.

8日目（8月6日）
8月6日の1時間目（P1）は、明石西高等学校（ANSHS）の生徒たちがホスト生徒の授業に参加する「シャドーイング」を行いました。そのうち3名は数学の授業に参加しました。

2時間目（P2）は、ラリッサ・クール先生によるオーストラリア地理の授業を受けました。先生はオーストラリアの地図や有名な観光地・名所を紹介し、その後、ANSHSの生徒たちは地図上でそれぞれの場所がどこにあるかを確認する活動に取り組みました。

3時間目（P3）は、ANSHSの生徒の半数がリー・エリス先生の日本語の授業に参加しました。グループ6が「トー横キッズ」やジェンダー平等など、日本の社会問題について発表を行いました。その後、ANSHSとチャーチランズ高校（CHS）の生徒たちは、英語または日本語で自己紹介をし、お互いに質問をしながら交流しました。

4時間目（P4）は、リー・エリス先生のYear 11日本語の授業に参加しました。最初に、ANSHSとCHSの生徒がグループに分かれ、「オーストラリア・日本友情クイズ」で競い合いました。その後、ANSHSの生徒は英語、CHSの生徒は日本語を使って自己紹介を行い、お互いに質問をしながら交流を深めました。

授業後もANSHSの生徒たちはホスト生徒とともに過ごし、その後、一緒に帰宅しました。

Day 7 – August 5

On August 5, the students from Akashi Nishi Senior High School (ANSHS) gathered at Churchlands Senior High School (CSHS) in the morning before travelling by bus to Caversham Wildlife Park.

There, they had the opportunity to interact with kangaroos, wombats, and lizards. They also saw a wide variety of animals that are unique to Australia.

After lunch, the ANSHS students visited Kings Park.

In the afternoon, they enjoyed a Perth city tour. They walked around the city centre and visited Woolworths and a souvenir shop.

At 5:45 pm, they returned to CSHS, met their host families, and went home.

8月5日、明石西高等学校（ANSHS）の生徒たちは、午前中にチャーチランズ・シニア・ハイスクール（CSHS）に集合し、その後バスでキャバーシャム・ワイルドライフ・パークへ向かいました。

そこで、生徒たちはカンガルー、ウォンバット、トカゲと触れ合う貴重な機会を得ました。また、オーストラリア固有のさまざまな動物を見ることができました。

昼食後、ANSHSの生徒たちはキングス・パークを訪れました。

午後はパース市内観光を楽しみました。市内中心部を散策し、スーパーマーケットのウールワースやお土産店を訪れました。

午後5時45分にCSHSへ戻り、ホストファミリーと合流して、それぞれ帰宅しました。
